A look into one of the recent projects developed and implemented by SK Godelius for SQM: a remote operation system for the ship loader at Puerto Tocopilla, designed to improve safety while maintaining precise control and operational continuity in a demanding port environment.

The solution was developed to remove personnel from high risk operational areas, enabling operators to control the system remotely without compromising performance or efficiency. The project forms part of the broader technological transformation taking place at the Integrated Operations Centre (CIO) at Puerto Tocopilla.

Throughout the project, close collaboration between the teams and a strong focus on execution were essential to achieving the expected results. The implementation reflects how remote operation technologies can support safer and more efficient industrial operations, particularly in environments where exposure to operational risks is a constant challenge.

Projects like this continue to demonstrate the growing role of automation and remote operated systems in improving operational safety, reliability, and continuity across the mining and industrial sectors.
