SK Godelius wrapped up a successful week at Expomin 2025, Latin America’s largest mining industry trade show, held at Espacio Riesco in Santiago. Our team was on-site to present our latest innovations in automation, robotics, and remote operations, technologies that are reshaping the future of mining.

As part of our commitment to creating safer, more efficient, and sustainable mining environments, SK Godelius shared the stage with leading industry players and had the opportunity to connect with hundreds of clients, partners, and future collaborators.

Spotlight on Innovation: Robotics Display at Sigdo Koppers Booth

The centrepiece of our participation was the robotics display at the Sigdo Koppers booth, where SK Godelius, part of the Sigdo Koppers Group, showcased a wide range of autonomous and remote-operated systems in action. The live demonstrations drew constant attention, highlighting how advanced robotics are already transforming mining operations across inspection, sampling, and remote tasks.

Visitors saw firsthand the capabilities of SK Godelius’ multi-platform robotic systems, designed to operate in hazardous, hard-to-reach, or extreme environments. From rugged terrain to underground tunnels, our robots are built to support safe, continuous, and data-rich mining operations.

We were especially honoured to receive a visit from Chile’s Minister of Mining, Aurora Williams, who stopped by our booth to learn more about the technologies SK Godelius is developing and deploying both in Chile and internationally.

Real-World Impact: Conveyor Belt Inspection System at Minera Zaldívar

Among the systems featured was our Conveyor Belt Inspection System, jointly developed with Grupo Antofagasta Minerals and currently deployed at Minera Zaldívar. This robot inspects conveyor belts autonomously using cameras, sensors, and real-time data analysis to detect anomalies, prevent failures, and keep personnel out of high-risk areas.

This project exemplifies how smart automation not only enhances operational efficiency but also improves safety and reliability in critical infrastructure.

Expert Voices: Fernando Bracco and Andrés Alvarado at the Forefront

As part of the event’s technical program, two key members of the SK Godelius leadership team shared insights through expert presentations:

  • Fernando Bracco, CEO of SK Godelius, delivered a compelling talk on the role of advanced robotics and remote operations in mining, highlighting how these technologies are enabling a safer, more productive future by replacing high-risk tasks with automated systems.

  • Andrés Alvarado, Director of Engineering for Chile and Canada, presented on robotic inspection systems for conveyor belts, diving into the real-world deployment of autonomous units at Minera Zaldívar and the operational value they’re already delivering.

Their participation underscored SK Godelius’ role not just as a technology developer, but as a thought leader driving change in the mining sector.

Robotics in Action: Innovation Across Terrains and Applications

Throughout the week, SK Godelius presented its family of robotic platforms designed for rugged, hazardous, and complex mining environments. These systems include:

  • Autonomous Soil Sampling Robots
Performing high-precision sampling and analysis in remote and environmentally sensitive areas.

  • Robotic Inspection Units
Equipped with thermal, acoustic, and visual sensors for real-time fault detection in underground and open-pit operations.

  • Modular and Platform-Agnostic Designs
Built for flexibility, enabling deployment of different sensors, cameras, and data systems across legged, wheeled, and tracked robots.

Each robot is designed to operate in harsh conditions and support remote or semi-autonomous operations, addressing both safety and productivity challenges in modern mining.

Expomin: A Hub for Mining Innovation

This year’s Expomin brought together over 1,200 exhibitors and 70,000 attendees from around the globe. SK Godelius’ participation was more than a showcase, it was a reaffirmation of our belief that mining can be transformed through intelligent, human-centred technology.

Our CEO, engineers, and commercial team engaged in meaningful conversations with stakeholders from Chile, Canada, Brazil, and beyond, discussing how SK Godelius’ expertise can support greenfield and brownfield projects alike.

A Message to the Industry

As the mining sector continues to evolve, SK Godelius remains committed to developing technologies that address real operational needs, improving safety, reducing environmental impact, and expanding access to areas that are unsafe or unreachable for human workers.

To those who visited us at Expomin: thank you. Your curiosity, questions, and ideas help drive our innovation forward. And to those investing in technology, you are leading the new era of mining.

Let’s Keep the Conversation Going
