SK Godelius had the honour of participating in the “Mining Innovation Summit: Unlocking New Mining Opportunities Between Chile and Canada.” During this event, we shared our journey of establishing operations in Canada, reflecting on the challenges, successes, and lessons learned over the past four years.
Benjamín Valdés, Growth Manager at SK Godelius, highlighted why Canada was the ideal location for our expansion:
“We chose Canada because it’s a developed mining country with a consolidated high-tech industry, headquarters of major mining companies, the Toronto Stock Exchange’s focus on mining exploration, and its unique technological mix of mining and space industries. Additionally, the convenient time zone and direct flights made it a practical choice over other countries.”
Benjamín also explained the crucial steps of our Day One in Canada, which included:
- Engaging with key industry stakeholders.
- Setting up a global startup: offices, bank accounts, legal frameworks, and incorporation in Canada.
- Collaborating with NORCAT in Sudbury, utilizing its test mine and local connections.
- Partnering with organizations such as Mine Connect, MICA (Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator), and CEMI (Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation) to build our network and establish a strong foundation.
We also revisited the innovative projects we’ve worked on in Canada, showcasing how SK Godelius has contributed to the local mining industry through cutting-edge solutions in automation, robotics, and remote operations.
A heartfelt thank you to Corporación Alta Ley, MICA, and CEMI for the invitation and for fostering collaboration between Chile and Canada in mining innovation. Stay tuned as SK Godelius continues to lead the way in mining technology!
